About
A graduate of The Juilliard School in 2022, he studied in the jazz program, learning from some of the world’s most esteemed jazz musicians.
His musical journey began at a young age, when he discovered his father's cassette collection of ‘70s psychedelic rock. In 2008, he tracked down a cassette player on eBay to listen to these albums at school, igniting a lifelong passion for rhythm. Early influences like Neil Peart, Bill Ward, John Bonham, Keith Moon, and Buddy Miles played a key role in shaping his sound.
He was introduced to jazz as a teenager through mentorship from some of Canada’s top jazz musicians. Shortly after, he was recording and performing with them, and at 18, he recorded with Canada’s National Youth Jazz Combo, which won the Downbeat Magazine Jazz Instrumental Soloist Award. This experience earned him a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Toronto’s jazz program, and later led him to Juilliard.
Today, Petros is a vibrant presence on the music scene, performing and recording in the Greater Toronto Area. You can find him in almost every musical setting you can think of and more.
